This life is a gift.

The air that you breathe. The water that you drink. The food that you eat. Everything is a gift.

What you achieve and what you not is inconsequential.

Existence is a cause for celebration itself.

And gratitude is what helps you keep it in perspective.

The laughter you exchange, the inside jokes, the food you share, and the memories you make.

As the masters say the world is made for your delight.

The gift of being a witness to the creation.

Science can explain it but that shouldn’t take away the beauty of it.

Its grandeur.

Every time I open a tap in my house, I am filled with gratitude for the freshwater that comes flowing.

The coolness of it the soothing sensation of it.

I delight in the alchemy that takes place in my kitchen every day.

Raw ingredients turning into food that nourish my family.

The veggies, the spices, the salt, the grains, and so much more. This is nature’s bounty.

How can I not mention the comfort of my house?

Providing shade in the sun and warmth on a cold rainy day.

Electricity powering everything from work to entertainment.

Sure we pay for all of it but without the cooperation of countless human beings in building those things around the world all of this won’t function as seamlessly as it does.

From the farmer to your plate is an invaluable value chain.

Our sustenance depends on it.

And so I say it’s all a gift.

Gratitude reminds me of conservation.

To not waste food, to not waste water, to use longer, and recycle.

To be mindful of my consumption and wastage.

It’s time that we think not just as a society but as an ecosystem.

The trees are half our lungs out in the wild.

We are not separate from nature but merely in our nests.

Let’s not let familiarity breed contempt but have gratitude and be more appreciative of this gift of life.
