My thoughts on the book

My experiments with truth is a complex book to write a review about because it tackles a multitude of issues both from history and in life.

If you are a reader from the US, Canada, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, and the UK then you can purchase this book from Amazon by clicking here.

Readers from India can purchase this book by clicking here.

Mahatma Gandhi opens the book with the words:

“More than an autobiography it’s a book about my experiments with truth. My life has been dedicated to it from the earliest days of my life.

All I care about is self-realization.

To see God face to face, all my duties in this world, may it be on a personal level, through service, or amidst a political career it’s been directed towards it, in-between all that I was merely looking for and learning about truth.”

As always, these are not his exact words, but the context is definitely on point. While writing these reviews, I write from memory and I write about things that stayed with me long after I finished reading them.

The short paragraph above says and conveys a lot of things and it’s profoundly deep.

All we have to do is, let that sink in and let it dawn upon us in its true meaning.

It can be achieved through your experiments with truth, so this lifelong experimentation of his is the whole base of this book. He goes further and encourages you to start doing your own personal experiments with it.

Those are called experiments because sometimes you fail and sometimes the experiment reveals the truth to you about our world and life.

That is how scientific experiments work right?

As an Indian myself, Mahatma Gandhi’s book, my experiments with truth speaks to me in a more personal manner. The reason being, his life has been the embodiment of Indian Culture.

A culture that believes in simple living and high thinking, humility, being a seeker of truth, service, unity, and equal rights for all may it be a man or an animal.

Now I am not saying, India today or India during his time was anywhere close to being all that 100%. But what I am saying is he was far ahead than anyone of us can possibly imagine being.

The strength of his character will grip you like anything. If Indian culture would appoint a representative for it, then there is no better man.

While reading that book I was astonished by his spirit of service.

I mean I consider myself to be an open person towards service to man and animal, but even for me, it was challenging to comprehend the level of his ability to reach out, volunteer, and work earnestly in favor of his fellow human beings.

I would like to imagine that I will be on that level someday but after reading this, it’s dawning upon me that it’s going to be a journey of intense purification and commitment.

This book inspires that spirit of selfless service within you.

Conclusion

Freedom was won for a nation by a method never ever used by anybody before.

The method of non-violence and Satyagrah. It’s a remarkable feat and one of Its kind.

You cannot know about a subject or a person without reading about it in detail or from their own personal record yourself.

The media and the various controversial outlets out there are a mere representation of the ideas conceived by numerous people.

You cannot know the man by just knowing his name, you have to know his story.

Secondly, we in the self-development community should always look for the positives we can pick from the negatives if there are any and think about how we can use that insight in enriching our own lives.

Then we are sure to live a positive and full-filled life. Be aware of the negatives, but concentrate and practice the positives.

This has been one of the longest reviews so far but you cannot blame me, I just went with the flow, I have been looking for inspiration for days to finally jot down something relevant about it, so when inspiration struck, this is what you got, I could not help it, there was no other way, thank you for bearing with me.
